Trade-In Information
Yes! We are grateful to sell your used gear for you! We specialize in acoustic and electric guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects pedals. We also take on synthesizers, recording gear and pro audio in select cases. We do not typically deal in drums and percussion or with band instruments.
We offer consignment, outright purchase, and trade-in options. Depending on your needs, one of these options may be better suited to your situation. If you’re considering unloading some gear, please read on.
Consignment
Practically speaking, the consignment route will yield the most funds to you. We have some flexibility on list pricing, within reason, and we take a commission from the sale price of the instrument. This means that proceeds from the instrument will be available after the sale is completed.
Our consignment rates are competitive - Lower list prices of $200-500 are subject to a commission of 25%. Items listed between $500-2000 have a commission of 20%. List prices greater than $2000 have a rate of 15%.
We do not consign items listing for less than $200.
**Please note that any maintenance required to sell an instrument is usually significantly discounted, but in all cases is charged to the instrument’s former owner before the item is listed for sale. We do not deduct this from the proceeds after the sale takes place.
Please contact us for a copy of our detailed consignment terms.
Sell
We do buy items ‘outright’. It is the faster option to receive proceeds, but will always require a short wait. Some estimates of value can be made via email, but ultimately we need to have the instrument in our hands, evaluated and tested before an offer can be made.
Any maintenance or refurbishment required will have an impact on the value we offer, and in most cases, we prefer gear to be fully functional in order to be considered.
Trade-In
Trading is a great option if you have your eye on a particular item that we have in-stock, or if you are moving your gear along and would like to bank credit with Cask Music for a future purchase or service. The main benefit is that typically the trade-in rate is improved from selling your gear to us outright.
as with our purchase option, any maintenance or refurbishment required will have an impact on the value we offer, and in most cases, we prefer gear to be fully functional in order to be considered. Additionally, trading towards an item on consignment can introduce some constraints, but this is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
